Karen Tam Profile

Having grown up in the UK watching the popular reality TV show “Location Location Location”, featuring property experts Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer, I was inspired to embark on a career in real estate upon moving back to Hong Kong.

Born in Hong Kong, I moved to the UK at the age of 14 to further my education. After completing GCSE’s and A-levels at Ashford School and a Master’s Degree in Chemistry at the University of York, I started working as a chemist at a UK chemical company. After spending a year in the laboratories, I realized that as an extrovert with an outgoing personality, I would be much happier with a client-facing role.

I am passionate about assisting prospective home buyers and renters find their dream home. The guidance I observed from watching Kirstie and Phil, as they approach each property search and guide the selection process still impacts the way I assist clients, taking into consideration their varying needs and requirements.

I embarked on preparing for my estate agent’s license. Concurrently, I started working as a relocation consultant. This involved assisting expatriates and their families to settle in Hong Kong including school search, city orientation, move management and settling-in support. Looking back, this was an important part of my training, learning the softer side of the business, helping families to overcome challenges during a stressful transition.

In an effort to deliver quality service, I spend a great deal of time researching the market to find properties that suit the clients’ preferences so they are able to settle in as quickly as possible. My core competence includes these districts- Southside, Mid-levels, Pokfulam and The Peak. To ensure client satisfaction, I focus on meeting the needs of those who prefer these areas. Otherwise, I am happy to refer clients to colleagues should their requirements fall outside of my speciality.

Moving can be a stressful transition, however, it doesn’t have to be. It is my pleasure to make sure clients feel supported and happy in finding their new home.
