The Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) is a charitable organisation which teaches disable children and adults to ride a horse to the best of their ability or therapy and fun. Instruction is in English as well as Cantonese. The association was founded in 1975 and operates out of three centres: the Pokfulam Riding School (opened in 1978) as well as riding schools in Tuen Mun and Lo Wu in the New Territories.
Around 170 disabled children and adults ride in 24 weekly lessons which are provided free of charge. The programme has 20 horses and ponies and eight qualified group instructors assisted by teams of volunteer helpers. Riders' diagnoses include many different conditions from Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy to blindness and autism.
